BLOGGING: Password Protection

Every now and then something raises my concern about having so much of my original material online, most recently a number of yahoo and google searchers as well as a post on another weblog that indicated a poem used without credit (plagiarism). So, I have decided to Password Protect Talespinning and another weblog of stories.  I know this sounds both paranoid and overconfident, but I’ve been concerned for over a year about Spinning essays on literature such as The Swimmer that I posted long ago, and right now, my  writing is a bit important to me.

If you’re a regular reader of Talespinning, please e-mail me for the password.

  1. I don’t think it’s paranoid at all. It’s been a tough decision for me, what to post and what not to post. Especially if I plan to submit to magazines and so forth.

agreed … just as with anything else, there will always be people who have an interest in taking what belongs to someone else

better to be cautious, than to be a victim

Thanks for the thoughts. It just made me nervous to see a searcher start looking through the stories files, spend quite a bit of time there, come back again and again and never leave a comment. I don’t mind my work being read, I just would like it read under my own name!

I understand your dilemma. My pictures and some of my poetry are important to me too. When you realize that what you produce is good as in great{you are an example}. You have to protect…. I am working on deleting and sorting through over 1500 posts. I wish you luck… Can you say “Cache”? Hohumm.

I don’t think it’s paranoid it all. I’m planning to create a weblog myself and I’m looking for one with password protection but so far I didn’t find one. I hope to find a family to spend a year with as an Aupair and I guess the parents wouldn’t be so happy to see pictures of their kids on the internet, it’s only for my friends and family to see…
I found your page when searching for a password protected weblog on google. Can you tell me how to protect my weblog or where I can find some page with password protection?
    Thanks a lot.
