CURRENT AFFAIRS: Shiavo

I’ve tried to hold back on this and leave it to those who feel they have a right to speak up or have something worthwhile to say, or just need to get the sympathy or outrage out.

I am against government getting involved in what should be a personal family matter, but what I’m seeing is rage against the government, and this is not where it belongs.  They did not just notice the case and step in, they were dragged in by the family and forced to judge it.

This is typical; the government gets blamed for stepping in where nobody thinks they should be, when they’ve been called in to make a decision because there were no laws that somebody thought there should be.  The result, a new law.  But one inspired and instigated by the people.  People who wanted it to cover their own situation.
