REALITY: Free at last!

Can’t help it; the words echo in my head.  After five years of study and a month with my husband home every day, today’s final close to the degree and my husband’s early morning takeoff to PA gives me an almost unbearable release of responsibility that approaches St. Teresa’s ecstacy.

Aside from planning on making myself some oddball cravings for dinners such as softshell crab sandwiches and coconut shrimp, my biggest freedom is in spreading out computer parts all over the kitchen table and building two systems and fixing three others without having to move them all for each meal.  And ice cream for breakfast.  And going to sleep (on the couch!) at ten p.m. and waking up at three in the morning to make noise.  And spaghetti with escargot and artichoke hearts for lunch.  And working in the shop until midnight if I want to, or disassembling the pool because August is large trash pickup month.  I can sew those drapes I’ve had the fabric for for years.  Maybe I’ll move furniture around or sort the cellar.  Or just read and read and read for hours on end.

Let’s see how exciting I can be, at least for these few days.  If I can remember how.

Oooh – I am so envious! so do tell what you have been up to. I’m so impressed that you can build computers. I can turn them on and off….
