LITERATURE: Literary Critique

Excellent post today at Pedablogue, Professor Mike Arnzen’s (Seton Hill, PA) on the academic methods of teaching Literary theory and understanding critique.  Read Comfortably Objective.

Since sending Spinning into the realm of literary analysis of sorts, in my own bumbling way I am taking a book at a time (currently, 100 Years of Solitude) and attempting to read it from all angles:  as entertainment, as informative, as philosophical, as historical, and of course, that all important aspect to me–as a learning writer.

I recently received a reading list graciously provided me by Professor Steve Ersinghaus, a former instructor of mine at Tunxis, that will help by providing a collection of lenses under which to examine each reading (whether text, graphic, or multimedia event) at all different levels.  Little by little, my awe at some of the greatest writings will provide even more pleasure in the understanding and seeking to expand upon the words and go beyond in thinking.
