WRITING: Setting

It began as one of those glorious mornings, bursting with sunlight and the cry of a bluejay amid silent waking before the city boiled into the whirlwind of life on hot fried-egg sidewalks with blaring horns and middle-finger anger offered each other in the rush to be nowhere.

Did the city boil on a glorious morning? Is this really the season for bluejays to shriek? I thought fried-egg sidewalks were not due until at least July, no matter where you live. But right on with the middle-finger rush, seldom during holidays in anger. Merely just frustrated with traffic so I give them a break when they are not talking on their cell phone.

Well, I was thinking of August when I wrote it, but there isn’t a feeling of “glorious” because it isn’t given the clear imagery it deserves as the opening before dissolving into the heat of the day. This is great feedback, thanks!

Im glad you can see the sun in your part of the world. Im convinced that the sun here has turned gray. Oh joy.
