LITERATURE: Mrs. Dalloway – Whoa!

Okay, so it’s hot and I’ve taken up residence in the only air conditioned room in the house–the bedroom–and deciding to run out only for lack of a chamber pot, am reading and writing.  But hey, what’s with Virginia Woolf’s love affair with long sentences and snowstorms of semicolons?

I’ll be back with more on this, complete with examples, but I will say this:  it does make the third person looking into an almost stream of consciousness pattern of narrative even that much more difficult to concentrate upon without backing up.

Like I said, I’ll be back; but not before I’ve pulled out the grammar guide and checked some of this out.
