WRITING & STORIES: Readerly

He saw the heat and caught the scent
of yellow on his tongue,
tasting movement of its arc and hearing
daylight, loud as silence. 
Searching, reached out and felt
the shining disc
that burned his sight,
bit down and broke it with his teeth. 
So learned of darkness
of the morning
and the blinding touch of night.
