LITERATURE: And Carpentry

111706l Well, the decision was to go cheapo just to get the books off the floor for now.  I just don’t know if we’re going to add that room on and if we do, everything will be switched around and changed, bookshelves being built ins most likely in the new room. By the way, that’s part of the pile on the left, standing in line waiting to hop aboard. Eventually, these shelves can be used in the basement or the garage.

However, I’m not totally without class.  For $50 more, I’m putting on some frame moulding that matches it perfectly and gives it a finished look.  111706l2It will actually be the one on the extreme left, because it has a nice simple clean line.  I just ordered fifty feet of it and am sure I can use the balance in the shop, but this way I can cut it to fit the front face exactly, running along the sides and top.

Which leaves me with sorting the books and putting them on the shelves tonight.  I was going to separate the ones I’ve read from the ones I haven’t read (after the major groups of fiction, non-fiction by topic), but now I’m thinking of putting all the novels together, both read and unread, in alphabetical order by author, but with a tiny little silver dot on the books that have been read.

Now this is a biggie for me–to graffiti-ize a book.  I, who will not even put my name in a book and cringe at some of the desecration I’m finding in those library sale books (a folded page! an underlined phrase!).  And on the linen-backed hardcovers, a transparent tape with a silver dot will be the most I can make myself do.

This is my fun project for tonight.
