WRITING & NEW MEDIA: Self-Effacing vs. Facing Self

I give up. I’m not a writer, not an artist.  I’m a reader of others’ words and framer of their art.

I’m just too late and still not good enough, that’s all there is to it.

But I can sew, I can cook, I can shoot arrows–or used to.  That’s my place in this life.  It’s been a bad, bad day and I just broke a coffee mug I’ve had for thirty years; through several jobs and always here in the shop.

Tired of fighting for what I believe in; tired of fighting everyone who blocks my way.  Just…tired.

I know the feeling, susan. But yes you can write. Sometimes there is a bad lag but it is only temporary and when you get going again you’ll write stuff so grand, you’ll look back on ‘the very best’ of past writing and find you have even surpassed that. I have faith in you. Rest a bit, cook a bit, or whatever, put keep on writing.

Susan, thank you for your honesty. I started my blog in order to write more. I have been seduced by the blogosphere – and have been doing lots of writing – just not the kind/type I anticipated.

Thanks, ladies. I’m on a downward spiral at warp speed right now. If I don’t crash and splinter, maybe it’ll all come back into focus again.

  4. In the end I think it’s most important to do what makes one happy. If something doesn’t, time to stop or take a break. If it does, just do it and who cares whether anyone else likes it or not. That’s the philosophy I’m going with this week, anyhow. 🙂
