WRITING: Perspective

Had an interesting vision this morning, another of my backyard revelations that teach me to question and explore.

Look at the trees, now filling out with their finery of all shades and shapes of green leafery, as starting from a point in the sky, growing down to the earth, pushing at its soil with their roots, compressing it from all angles, moving it into itself tighter and tighter where it burns in the furnace of its core all the past centuries’ debris.

  1. Hi Susan. I love the way you articulated this vision. It kind of sets my mind at ease. I’ve always thought I wouldn’t want to live or walk barefeet in early world countries because of the build up of debris under foot. Like a very old house that existed for years with too many occupants tumbling about and never a thorough and proper cleaning. I like the idea that the debris sinks and burns in an antiseptic way.

And my other thought — obviously with this kind of ‘vision’ your eye condition is on the mend, and that is a good thing as well. Enjoyed the read of this post, the previous post, the previous post, etc.

Thank you, Roberta. My backyard is never looked at in quite the same way, but more like an ever changing narrative. I like how you’ve expanded on this particular concept to bring it into the global impact level as well as the more personal mood that a house suggests.
