REALITY: As you sow…

…so shall you reap.  Picked the first cucumbers from the garden the other day.  One ended up in soup along with a severe overdose of fresh cilantro from the garden as well.  The  other cucumbers were sliced and marinated in vinegar.  There’s nothing like the taste of fresh garden produce, and I am eagerly awaiting the tomotoes, squash and beans.

There is a great satisfaction in watching a garden grow.  From an expanse of tilled soil dotted with an occasional row of spindly seedlings to a lush cover of vines and leaves one must poke around to find and pick the vegetables over the course of the summer.  The first time is the best.  Unprepared, I am delighted to discover that after a few days of rain and hot sun, there is something to reward my efforts.  I pick, filling up the pulled out front of my shirt to hold the bounty.

In a couple days I’ll check again, come prepared with a basket.  But it won’t be quite the same.
