TECHNOLOGY: C-D-E-F…Drives

While I have the new pc running perfectly with a 40 gig hard drive, a 1.8 AMD Duron CPU, its own Win XP o/s and an unbelievable 1280 mg memory, I’m juggling three hard drives to come up with one (or as I’d hoped, two) more pc systems at least running Win 98.  And, I was hoping to still recoup the data off either the dead C drive by hooking a working C into a system and pulling off the backup (I think it’s there anyway!) from a D drive, I think I’m running into problems because the good C drive that had other hardware problems was partitioned into C, E, and F.  Nothing’s booting up right now, and I may need to enter the BIOS setup to reconfigure the CMOS setup to recognize the stranger in its midst, or boot up with a systems floppy and see if that can get it going.  If worse comes to worst, I can first try grabbing the info off by hooking the drives as slaves into the new pc and let Win XP figure it out, or at the very worst, fdisk and format the drives and start from scratch.

I love fiddling with this stuff!
