WRITING: ‘Tude

No, I haven’t sent out any more than two submissions yet although I’d made a vow. Thought the story was as good as it can be, but now I’m having doubts.  Why?

Because I just can’t get a freakin cover letter written.  It’s been sitting there in the file and taken out near daily, revised unsuccessfully.  Each change is dependent on the current flow of confidence directly influencing mood.  It either sounds pompous and pretentious or at other times relative to the way the wind was blowing last time I worked it, self-defeating and unprofessional.

Meanwhile, in my fluctuating levels of ego, even the story doesn’t look so hot anymore.  I see yet another submission season flying by.

Submit. Bite the bullet and submit. Send it out. I guarantee that, even with all the flaws you see, it’s a lot better than most of the stuff they’ll see.

    Submit!
